Here are some random pictures I could download... Some village kids, a picture of a building burned down in my home town of Mafinga... and a piece of KS right hear in Tanzania!

In class I have taught them the values that can be instilled through the glorious game: Rock Paper Scissors (We had a littlew tournament as you can see). Also there is a picture of a local game called Mba0.

Not sure if all of these pictures will show up, but there is one picture of Jenny's toe after the race, a picture of the sunset on our way to Moshi. There is supposed tobe a picture of all the runners, and one more shot of Mount Kilimanjaro during the race.

Figured I could put some pictures from the Marathon on here. Especially since Facebook won't let me do anything!

The pictures are of the starting line (which collapsed moments before the start of the full marathon... TWICE!) A picture of the professional full marathon runners- some from the Tanzanian olympic team! And a couple shots of Mount Kilimanjaro.

So my first real run in 2008 went really well. I ran with Jenny Peck and kept her company while her knee slowly fell off, and ran ahead occasionally to get some pictures of Kilimanjaro, and I got some nice videos too. I am just now (3 and half days later) feeling 100% really, but it was a really cool experience. The Tanzanian Olypic team ran in the race, and some Kenyans too, and apparently it is the biggest race in Africa. Look for the olympians this year in China!

They had water and coke every 3 or 4 K at the race, and I had coke at each stop. Maybe why I felt good during the race, but had a fever a few hours after.

Interesting thing happened: We saw some blood on the road down the home stretch, and learned later that a car had hit a runner, and the runner was taken to the hospital. Not sure if this happens at many races, or if this is more of a TIA moment (This is Africa).

Now I'm back at school, things are going well I have to give my first French exam in a week, and we have just recently gotten past numbers, so we'll see what I can put on the exam? The big midterm exams start a week from tomorrow, and all of the students are studying hard- many even during lunch. It looks like a college campus sometimes.

My Uncle Gwyn brought University students here from Canada today, and we're going together to Jenny's village tomorrow. It was fun to answer questions they had, and to able to answer most of their questions too. I've been here over nine months now, so it's good I've learned something.

Today, I'min Moshi, at the base of Mt. Kilimanjaro, and I am going to participate in the Kilimanjaro Marathon tomorrow. Not sure how exactly- I didn't register ($60) and I'm not sure if I'll crash the run, and do the half-marathon, or the full. Either way, I didn't run that much at the end of last year, and I haven't run once this year, so we'll see.

At school I am having fun teaching. I brought my banjo to class, and showed the kids 32nd notes, and they were really excited to see an instrument they hadn't even heard of before- let alone seen, or heard. At the end of the class I had a kind of stomp your feet, jam and had everyone yell... it was pretty fun. I also am going to make a 10th anniversary video about the school, and have th4e students make it!
